The field is drawn to mirror top to bottom and side to side, so it reads as one continuous bed rather than a scatter of flowers. It takes its name from Nishat Bagh, the terraced garden that steps down to the Dal Lake in Srinagar.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt is hand-tufted in New Zealand wool. Each strand is punched through a cotton canvas backing with a hand-held tool, then the pile is sheared level by hand. Colour is laid in flat, unshaded blocks, a blossom in lilac with a single pink heart, a leaf in olive or powder blue, so the drawing stays crisp against the navy instead of dissolving into it. A narrow pink band, dotted in navy and ivory, frames the field. Beyond it, a wide powder-blue border repeats one motif all the way round: an ivory and saffron blossom with an olive and navy heart, set between sprays of olive leaves.
