Engineered board is the deliberate choice over solid timber here: across this width it holds its shape through humidity rather than splitting or warping at the corners the way a solid-wood carcass eventually will. Vintage kilim is inset into all five drawer fronts, laid across the lid and carried the full height of both flanks. Every panel is framed by a leather band and secured with a run of solid brass studs, in the manner of a trunk built to survive a sea crossing.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eTwo short drawers sit above three full-width ones, each running on soft-close runners that draw themselves shut the last inch. They open by thick leather strap handles riveted through solid brass mounts, sized to be pulled with a whole hand rather than two fingers.
