A single green midrib winds up the centre in a slow S-curve, and from it some forty fronds reach out to both edges: long and almost level through the middle, fanning upward at the head and curling down towards the stem at the foot. Every frond has a soft, wandering outline, as if cut from paper with scissors rather than ruled, so the design reads as a drawing rather than a pattern.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe leaf stands in relief. The fronds are tufted in cut pile, sheared level and dense, and sit a few millimetres proud of the ground, which is tufted in a tighter loop pile in pale mint. Underfoot and in raking light you feel and see the two heights: velvety green against a nubbly, slightly textured field. That change of surface does the work a border would normally do, which is why the Munnar has none.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt is hand-tufted in 100% New Zealand wool. Each strand is punched through a cotton canvas backing with a hand-held tool, then the green pile is sheared level by hand. The edges are bound in the same pale mint wool, with no fringe.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eTwo colours and one clean gesture make this the quietest rug in the collection to place.
