Description
A steamer trunk built the way they were when they still had to survive a sea crossing — leather over the carcass, brass at every corner, and a vintage kilim set into each face.
The carcass is framed in leather bands that run the full perimeter of the trunk, with domed brass studs set by hand along their length. Inside each band sits a panel of handwoven kilim, so the textile is held within a border rather than wrapped loosely around the box. The lid follows the same logic: a wide leather surround with a kilim centre, edged in brass-riveted corner caps.
The lid is hinged and carries a steel stay arm, so it holds itself open while you load it rather than needing a hand to brace it. The whole interior — walls, floor and the underside of the lid — is lined in soft suede, which means woollens and linen can go straight in without wrapping.
Each kilim panel is hand-cut from a vintage rug. The pattern, the colours and the weave on the trunk you receive will not match the photographs, and the panels on your own piece will not match one another. That is the point of it: the rug it came from was woven once, decades ago, and the piece cannot be repeated.
At 70 cm long it takes the place of a side table beside a sofa, sits at the foot of a bed, or stacks blankets in a hallway — low enough at 40 cm to perch on while pulling on boots.

Your piece is built after you order it rather than taken off a shelf, so we’d rather you check these measurements against your room first — made-to-order pieces can’t be returned or exchanged. Being handmade, finished dimensions may vary by a centimetre or two.

Materials
Built from carefully selected, natural materials — kiln-dried hardwoods, hand-spun textiles, cast metal and quarried stone, chosen to last for decades. Naturally occurring grain and tone variation is intrinsic to each handmade piece.
Fabric care
Vacuum gently and regularly with an upholstery attachment to lift dust before it settles. Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth — press, don’t rub — and avoid soaking the fabric. Plump and rotate loose cushions so they wear evenly. Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to preserve colour, and have delicate weaves cleaned professionally rather than machine-washed.
Craftsmanship
Carved, joined and finished by hand in our workshops, passing through the hands of several craftspeople. Joinery is mortise-and-tenon — never glued shortcuts — so the piece is made to be kept and passed down.
Assembly & Installation
Most pieces arrive securely packed and ready to use. Some larger items may require simple assembly; installation assistance may be available depending on the product and your location — speak with a consultant to confirm before ordering.
Care
Dust timber with a soft dry cloth and treat with wax balm twice yearly. Vacuum upholstery gently and treat marks promptly. Keep out of prolonged direct sun to preserve the finish.
Delivery & Shipping
Made-to-order pieces are crafted in 2–3 weeks and then dispatched by safe, insured delivery, securely packed for transit. Assembly assistance is available on selected pieces. International freight is quoted at checkout.
