Seven drawers, five feet of leather and a line of hand-driven studs around every edge — a campaign chest drawn out to dresser length, low enough to hang a mirror or a screen above it and long enough to hold a bedroom's worth of clothes.

The front is laid out four over three. Across the top run four drawers for the things you reach for daily; below them, a single wide drawer sits between two smaller ones — deep and long enough for folded knitwear, linen or anything that shouldn't be creased into a narrow box — and is pulled by a strap at each end. Every drawer is faced in leather and lifted by a curved leather strap held between two metal plates, the way a travelling case is carried. Domed studs are driven by hand around the full frame of the front, along every top edge and in a line across each flank at the drawer division, and cast metal caps armour the corners. The top is covered in leather laid as two panels meeting at the centre.

Inside, every drawer is lined in a dark suede finish and runs on soft-close steel runners. The back is faced in the same finish and bound at its edges, so the chest can stand at the foot of a bed or out in a room without an unfinished side on show.

The carcass is engineered board rather than solid timber, and at this length that is the point: a five-foot solid top cups and moves with every change of season, where board holds flat and keeps every drawer opening square for years. It sits on a slim metal base — a single rail running the length of the chest on six square legs, finished to match the studs and corners — which lifts it clear of the floor and keeps a long, dark piece from looking heavy.

At 70 cm high and 50 cm deep it works in more than one room: as a dresser in the bedroom, under a wall-mounted television in a den, or as a sideboard along a dining wall.

The leather comes plain or croc-embossed, in any colour from the range. The croc pattern is pressed and then hand-worked, so the scale catches the light differently from panel to panel; plain leather shows the hide's own grain instead and records handling more openly. Either way the tone shifts slightly across the piece and deepens with use, and the metal softens with handling. Neither is a fault — both are why the chest looks better in its fifth year than its first.
