Six feet of vintage kilim set in a leather frame, and only two feet wide — a tall, narrow wardrobe for the corner, the alcove or the guest room that a full wardrobe will never fit.

Each of the two doors is a single full-height kilim panel woven in stepped triangles of rust, ochre, sage, slate and bone, framed in hand-cut leather. At the centre seam a pair of half-moon cast brass pulls meet and close into a full circle when the doors are shut, their faces worked in a fine engraved texture. A key lock sits just beneath them, and the left door bolts top and bottom, so a single key secures the whole cupboard.

Inside, two tall compartments divided by shelves take folded knitwear, linen, handbags or lidded boxes. Below them sits a shallow drawer with its own lock — the place for watches, jewellery, passports and papers — then an open cubby, and a deep drawer at the base for shoes, spare bedding or a winter quilt. Both drawers run on soft-close steel runners and pull by small brass knobs. This is a shelved wardrobe with no hanging rail; if you need to hang clothes, the Alsisar Kilim & Leather Wardrobe carries a full-width rail.

Both flanks are dressed floor to top in four stacked kilim panels, each in a different pattern — medallions, stepped diamonds, harlequin checks — divided by leather rails. The back is clad entirely in leather with brass caps at every corner, so the wardrobe is finished from all four sides and can stand away from the wall: at the foot of a bed, beside a doorway, or as a divider in a dressing room.

The carcass is engineered board rather than solid timber — a laminated panel stays true at this height, where solid boards would move with the seasons and let the doors drift out of line. It stands on low feet that lift it just clear of the floor so you can clean beneath it.

Every kilim panel is cut by hand from a vintage rug, so the pattern, colours and weave on your piece will not match the photographs. The panels will not match each other either — the two doors and the eight flank panels are each cut from different rugs and different parts of a rug. No two wardrobes are alike. The leather is finished to show its natural markings and will soften and deepen in tone with use.
