The Mehrangarh is the Mandawa in Onyx: a square, trunk-built coffee table whose top is a flat field of black leather, framed by vintage kilim mitred at every corner so the weave turns cleanly into the border. Against the black the flatweave reads louder — rust, ochre, olive and indigo sitting on an unlit ground instead of competing with brown.

Every panel is hand-cut from an old rug, stretched over the carcass and bound in leather straps driven with domed brass studs by hand. Solid brass caps wrap the four lower corners, where a low table takes its knocks. Two drawers, one in each of two opposing faces, run on full-extension soft-close runners and are lined in suede throughout — box, base and sides. The drawer fronts are plain leather with a stitched strap handle on brass plates, deliberately quieter than the kilim around them; the other two faces are uninterrupted weave, three panels apiece.

The carcass is engineered board rather than solid timber — across a 90 cm span it holds dead flat where solid wood cups and moves with the season — carried on a solid wood plinth with tapered legs.

Each table is cut from a different vintage flatweave. The panels will not match one another, and they will not match these photographs — colour, motif and the position of a border are decided by the rug we open for your table. No two are alike.
