Description
A footstool dressed like a campaign trunk: a padded leather seat, a deep studded leather collar, and handwoven kilim on every side.
The seat is a single padded panel, piped at the edge and set into a leather collar that wraps the top of the piece. Where the collar meets the kilim it is stitched down and studded at even intervals. The same leather runs down each corner and around the base as a second studded rail, so every kilim panel sits framed on all four edges. A small stitched leather maker's tag carries the Art Avenue name. The body is lifted on four turned legs in solid wood.
At 40 cm it sits just below seat height, which is what makes it useful in more places than a chair. A footstool pulled up to a lounge chair, a spare seat when the room fills, or a low side table once a tray goes on top. The legs keep the body clear of the floor, so it reads as furniture rather than a pouf, and a broom passes underneath without anyone moving it.
Each side is cut from a different vintage kilim, so the four panels will not match one another — on the piece photographed, two faces carry a patchwork of triangles and two a stepped, flame-like motif. No two ottomans are alike, and the pattern, colours and weave on yours will differ from the photographs. That one-of-a-kind character is the essence of the piece, not a variation to be corrected.
The leather is left with its natural range of tone. Across the seat, where feet and hands land, it will darken and soften into a patina no finish can imitate. Being a natural hide it carries its own record: shade variation, the occasional scar or mark. These are not flaws; they are the difference between leather and a print of it.

Your piece is built after you order it rather than taken off a shelf, so we’d rather you check these measurements against your room first — made-to-order pieces can’t be returned or exchanged. Being handmade, finished dimensions may vary by a centimetre or two.

Materials
Built from carefully selected, natural materials — kiln-dried hardwoods, hand-spun textiles, cast metal and quarried stone, chosen to last for decades. Naturally occurring grain and tone variation is intrinsic to each handmade piece.
Fabric care
Vacuum gently and regularly with an upholstery attachment to lift dust before it settles. Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth — press, don’t rub — and avoid soaking the fabric. Plump and rotate loose cushions so they wear evenly. Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to preserve colour, and have delicate weaves cleaned professionally rather than machine-washed.
Craftsmanship
Carved, joined and finished by hand in our workshops, passing through the hands of several craftspeople. Joinery is mortise-and-tenon — never glued shortcuts — so the piece is made to be kept and passed down.
Assembly & Installation
Most pieces arrive securely packed and ready to use. Some larger items may require simple assembly; installation assistance may be available depending on the product and your location — speak with a consultant to confirm before ordering.
Care
Dust timber with a soft dry cloth and treat with wax balm twice yearly. Vacuum upholstery gently and treat marks promptly. Keep out of prolonged direct sun to preserve the finish.
Delivery & Shipping
Made-to-order pieces are crafted in 2–3 weeks and then dispatched by safe, insured delivery, securely packed for transit. Assembly assistance is available on selected pieces. International freight is quoted at checkout.
