Description
A footstool built with trunk hardware. Brass corner caps, a studded leather binding, and handwoven kilim on every face you can see.
The seat and all four sides are vintage kilim, each panel cut from a different part of the rug so the pattern shifts as you walk around it. A leather binding runs the full perimeter of the top, stitched down and set with brass studs at even spacing, and solid brass caps wrap all four top corners. It is the same detailing we use on the campaign trunks, scaled down to a piece one person can lift with one hand.
At 38 cm it sits below seat height, which is what makes it useful in more places than a chair. A footstool pulled up to a lounge chair, a spare seat when the room fills, or a low side table once a tray goes on top. Four tapered legs in solid wood lift the body clear of the floor, so it reads as furniture rather than a floor cushion and a broom passes underneath without anyone moving it.
Each kilim panel is hand-cut from an assorted vintage rug, so no two stools are alike. The exact pattern, colours and weave will differ from the photographs, and the panels will not match one another — that one-of-a-kind character is the essence of the piece, not a variation to be corrected.
The leather binding is left with its natural range of tone and will darken along the edges where hands and feet land most often. Being a natural hide it carries its own record: shade variation, the occasional scar or mark. The brass is unlacquered and will patina. None of this is a fault; it is the difference between these materials and a print of them.

Your piece is built after you order it rather than taken off a shelf, so we’d rather you check these measurements against your room first — made-to-order pieces can’t be returned or exchanged. Being handmade, finished dimensions may vary by a centimetre or two.

Materials
Built from carefully selected, natural materials — kiln-dried hardwoods, hand-spun textiles, cast metal and quarried stone, chosen to last for decades. Naturally occurring grain and tone variation is intrinsic to each handmade piece.
Fabric care
Vacuum gently and regularly with an upholstery attachment to lift dust before it settles. Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth — press, don’t rub — and avoid soaking the fabric. Plump and rotate loose cushions so they wear evenly. Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to preserve colour, and have delicate weaves cleaned professionally rather than machine-washed.
Craftsmanship
Carved, joined and finished by hand in our workshops, passing through the hands of several craftspeople. Joinery is mortise-and-tenon — never glued shortcuts — so the piece is made to be kept and passed down.
Assembly & Installation
Most pieces arrive securely packed and ready to use. Some larger items may require simple assembly; installation assistance may be available depending on the product and your location — speak with a consultant to confirm before ordering.
Care
Dust timber with a soft dry cloth and treat with wax balm twice yearly. Vacuum upholstery gently and treat marks promptly. Keep out of prolonged direct sun to preserve the finish.
Delivery & Shipping
Made-to-order pieces are crafted in 2–3 weeks and then dispatched by safe, insured delivery, securely packed for transit. Assembly assistance is available on selected pieces. International freight is quoted at checkout.
