Description
A leather X crosses every face, drawn together at the centre by a metal ring. It is the most strapped and studded of our kilim trunks — and the only one made long enough to serve as a bench.
Leather binds every edge and caps all eight corners, each cap hand-set with domed studs. Two straps run the full width beneath the lid, ending in shaped metal plates. A stitched leather carry handle sits on each side — the detail that gives the piece away as a trunk rather than a box.
The lid lifts on a stay to an interior lined throughout in soft suede. It is left undivided on purpose: a trunk holds what a cupboard cannot, and a fitted tray only gets in the way of blankets, spare linen and the things a room quietly accumulates.
Each kilim panel is hand-cut from an assorted vintage rug, so no two trunks are alike. The pattern, colours and weave on yours will differ from the photographs — that one-of-a-kind character is the essence of the piece, not a variation to be corrected. The leather framing holds all that colour in check, which is why the trunk reads as furniture rather than as a folded rug.
At 45 cm cubed it sits at side-table height, beside a chair or at the foot of a bed. The 90 cm version works as a low bench, or as a coffee table with storage underneath the lid — the reason to choose this trunk over the others in the range.

Your piece is built after you order it rather than taken off a shelf, so we’d rather you check these measurements against your room first — made-to-order pieces can’t be returned or exchanged. Being handmade, finished dimensions may vary by a centimetre or two.

Materials
Built from carefully selected, natural materials — kiln-dried hardwoods, hand-spun textiles, cast metal and quarried stone, chosen to last for decades. Naturally occurring grain and tone variation is intrinsic to each handmade piece.
Fabric care
Vacuum gently and regularly with an upholstery attachment to lift dust before it settles. Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth — press, don’t rub — and avoid soaking the fabric. Plump and rotate loose cushions so they wear evenly. Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to preserve colour, and have delicate weaves cleaned professionally rather than machine-washed.
Craftsmanship
Carved, joined and finished by hand in our workshops, passing through the hands of several craftspeople. Joinery is mortise-and-tenon — never glued shortcuts — so the piece is made to be kept and passed down.
Assembly & Installation
Most pieces arrive securely packed and ready to use. Some larger items may require simple assembly; installation assistance may be available depending on the product and your location — speak with a consultant to confirm before ordering.
Care
Dust timber with a soft dry cloth and treat with wax balm twice yearly. Vacuum upholstery gently and treat marks promptly. Keep out of prolonged direct sun to preserve the finish.
Delivery & Shipping
Made-to-order pieces are crafted in 3–4 weeks and then dispatched by safe, insured delivery, securely packed for transit. Assembly assistance is available on selected pieces. International freight is quoted at checkout.
