Description
Most chests of drawers put their best face forward and leave the flanks plain. This one is finished on every side you are likely to see, so it can sit against a wall or turn a corner without apology.
The carcass is engineered board clad entirely in hand-cut leather — wrapped over the top rail, folded around every corner, carried down to a solid wood plinth base and stitched by hand at the seams. Engineered board is the deliberate choice over solid timber here: across this width it holds its shape through humidity rather than splitting or warping at the corners the way a solid-wood carcass eventually will. Vintage kilim is inset into all five drawer fronts, laid across the lid and carried the full height of both flanks. Every panel is framed by a leather band and secured with a run of solid brass studs, in the manner of a trunk built to survive a sea crossing.
Two short drawers sit above three full-width ones, each running on soft-close runners that draw themselves shut the last inch. They open by thick leather strap handles riveted through solid brass mounts, sized to be pulled with a whole hand rather than two fingers. Riveted corner caps take the knocks the corners will inevitably collect.
Each kilim panel is hand-cut from a vintage rug, so no two chests are alike. The exact pattern, colours and weave will differ from the photographs — that one-of-a-kind character is the essence of the piece.
The leather is finished with a light wax rather than a heavy pigment. It will mark, warm and deepen where hands fall most often, and the brass will dull to a soft amber. Both are expected, and both improve the piece.

Your piece is built after you order it rather than taken off a shelf, so we’d rather you check these measurements against your room first — made-to-order pieces can’t be returned or exchanged. Being handmade, finished dimensions may vary by a centimetre or two.

Materials
Built from carefully selected, natural materials — kiln-dried hardwoods, hand-spun textiles, cast metal and quarried stone, chosen to last for decades. Naturally occurring grain and tone variation is intrinsic to each handmade piece.
Fabric care
Vacuum gently and regularly with an upholstery attachment to lift dust before it settles. Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth — press, don’t rub — and avoid soaking the fabric. Plump and rotate loose cushions so they wear evenly. Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to preserve colour, and have delicate weaves cleaned professionally rather than machine-washed.
Craftsmanship
Carved, joined and finished by hand in our workshops, passing through the hands of several craftspeople. Joinery is mortise-and-tenon — never glued shortcuts — so the piece is made to be kept and passed down.
Assembly & Installation
Most pieces arrive securely packed and ready to use. Some larger items may require simple assembly; installation assistance may be available depending on the product and your location — speak with a consultant to confirm before ordering.
Care
Dust timber with a soft dry cloth and treat with wax balm twice yearly. Vacuum upholstery gently and treat marks promptly. Keep out of prolonged direct sun to preserve the finish.
Delivery & Shipping
Made-to-order pieces are crafted in 6–8 weeks and then dispatched by safe, insured delivery, securely packed for transit. Assembly assistance is available on selected pieces. International freight is quoted at checkout.
