Description
A writing desk dressed like a steamer trunk: two slab legs panelled in vintage kilim, a leather top studded along every edge, and a pair of drawers pulled by stitched leather straps.
The desk stands on two wide waterfall legs rather than four posts. On the outside, each leg is divided into three kilim panels by leather straps set with domed studs, the way a trunk is banded. On the inside, facing the knees, each leg carries a single full-height kilim panel, so the pattern is what you see when you sit down.
Beneath the top, a drawer sits at either end with an open recess between them, for a notebook, a charger or the post. Both drawers run on soft-close runners that draw them shut the last inch. Each is faced with a kilim panel in a leather frame, pulled by a leather strap on brass mounts, and lined in velvet-nap suede. The underside of the drawer housings is finished in suede as well, so nothing raw shows from the chair.
The top is laid in three panels: leather through the centre where you write, and a vintage kilim inset at either end, each join edged with domed studs. Brass caps finish the top corners. The back is clad in leather too, so the desk can stand in the middle of a room or face into it without showing an unfinished side.
At 36 cm deep, the desk is made for a laptop, a lamp and a few books rather than a full workstation, and it sits as comfortably against a hallway wall as a console. The carcass is engineered board clad in hand-cut leather, and the legs stand on low black feet that lift the leather clear of the floor.
Every kilim panel is cut by hand from a vintage rug, so the pattern, colours and weave on your piece will not match the photographs. The panels will not match each other either — the six outer leg panels, the two inner ones, the two top insets and the two drawer fronts are each cut from different parts of the rug. No two desks are alike. The leather is finished to show its natural markings and will soften and deepen in tone with use.

Materials
Built from carefully selected, natural materials — kiln-dried hardwoods, hand-spun textiles, cast metal and quarried stone, chosen to last for decades. Naturally occurring grain and tone variation is intrinsic to each handmade piece.
Fabric care
Vacuum gently and regularly with an upholstery attachment to lift dust before it settles. Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth — press, don’t rub — and avoid soaking the fabric. Plump and rotate loose cushions so they wear evenly. Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to preserve colour, and have delicate weaves cleaned professionally rather than machine-washed.
Craftsmanship
Carved, joined and finished by hand in our workshops, passing through the hands of several craftspeople. Joinery is mortise-and-tenon — never glued shortcuts — so the piece is made to be kept and passed down.
Assembly & Installation
Most pieces arrive securely packed and ready to use. Some larger items may require simple assembly; installation assistance may be available depending on the product and your location — speak with a consultant to confirm before ordering.
Care
Dust timber with a soft dry cloth and treat with wax balm twice yearly. Vacuum upholstery gently and treat marks promptly. Keep out of prolonged direct sun to preserve the finish.
Delivery & Shipping
Made-to-order pieces are crafted in 6–8 weeks and then dispatched by safe, insured delivery, securely packed for transit. Assembly assistance is available on selected pieces. International freight is quoted at checkout.
