Description
A steamer trunk built to be lived on rather than travelled with. The whole body is wrapped in leather, seamed in contrast saddle stitch and banded with leather strips that run the full width — the way a trunk was strapped when it had to survive a sea crossing.
A drawer pulls out from each end, faced in the same hide with a stitched strap handle on aged metal fittings, running on soft-close runners that draw themselves shut the last inch. Two of them, one at either side, so the table serves whichever way it is turned and both people sitting either side of it have their own. In a living room where the coffee table is also where remotes, coasters and papers collect, that matters more than it sounds.
Aged metal catches sit centred on the front and at each corner, in the trunk manner. Domed studs follow the strap lines, and shaped corner caps protect all eight edges.
The leather is left with its natural range of tone, so the surface shifts as light crosses it. Along the top, where trays and hands and feet land, it will darken and soften into a patina no finish can imitate. Being a natural hide it carries its own record — shade variation, the occasional scar or mark. These are not flaws to be corrected; they are the difference between leather and a print of it.

Your piece is built after you order it rather than taken off a shelf, so we’d rather you check these measurements against your room first — made-to-order pieces can’t be returned or exchanged. Being handmade, finished dimensions may vary by a centimetre or two.

Materials
Built from carefully selected, natural materials — kiln-dried hardwoods, hand-spun textiles, cast metal and quarried stone, chosen to last for decades. Naturally occurring grain and tone variation is intrinsic to each handmade piece.
Fabric care
Vacuum gently and regularly with an upholstery attachment to lift dust before it settles. Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth — press, don’t rub — and avoid soaking the fabric. Plump and rotate loose cushions so they wear evenly. Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to preserve colour, and have delicate weaves cleaned professionally rather than machine-washed.
Craftsmanship
Carved, joined and finished by hand in our workshops, passing through the hands of several craftspeople. Joinery is mortise-and-tenon — never glued shortcuts — so the piece is made to be kept and passed down.
Assembly & Installation
Most pieces arrive securely packed and ready to use. Some larger items may require simple assembly; installation assistance may be available depending on the product and your location — speak with a consultant to confirm before ordering.
Care
Dust timber with a soft dry cloth and treat with wax balm twice yearly. Vacuum upholstery gently and treat marks promptly. Keep out of prolonged direct sun to preserve the finish.
Delivery & Shipping
Made-to-order pieces are crafted in 4–6 weeks and then dispatched by safe, insured delivery, securely packed for transit. Assembly assistance is available on selected pieces. International freight is quoted at checkout.
