Description
The steamer trunk in its most complete form — lid, lining, latches and all — sized to sit at the foot of a bed or beside a sofa, and to be opened every day rather than once a voyage.
The carcass is engineered board wrapped in leather on every face, cut in panels and joined with a tonal saddle stitch. Leather straps run up the front, sides and over the lid, each fixed with paired domed studs, and a studded strap belt follows the line where lid meets body. Wood bands are laid over the leather in the old trunk manner: four across the lid, one around the waist and one around the base, the lid bands finished with bevelled ends so hands and cushions pass over them without catching.
The lid closes on a central hasp with a lock loop, flanked by two shaped side catches, and metal caps guard its top corners. It is hinged at the back and held open by two folding metal stays, so it will not drop on a hand reaching inside. The interior, lid included, is lined in soft brown velvet suede — blankets, linen and throws go in without snagging. Four small turned wooden feet lift the trunk just clear of the floor.
The leather is dyed with natural tonal movement, and every hide takes the colour a little differently, so your piece will not match the photographs exactly. The top will darken and soften where it is used, the wood bands will deepen, and the metal fittings will lose their factory brightness within the first year. That is what a trunk is supposed to do.
At 70 cm long and 40 cm high it works as a blanket chest at the foot of a bed, a side table beside a sofa, or a compact coffee table in a smaller room. Shown in Moss Green leather with antique brass fittings; leather colour, leather finish, wood and metal are all chosen to order.

Materials
Built from carefully selected, natural materials — kiln-dried hardwoods, hand-spun textiles, cast metal and quarried stone, chosen to last for decades. Naturally occurring grain and tone variation is intrinsic to each handmade piece.
Fabric care
Vacuum gently and regularly with an upholstery attachment to lift dust before it settles. Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth — press, don’t rub — and avoid soaking the fabric. Plump and rotate loose cushions so they wear evenly. Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to preserve colour, and have delicate weaves cleaned professionally rather than machine-washed.
Craftsmanship
Carved, joined and finished by hand in our workshops, passing through the hands of several craftspeople. Joinery is mortise-and-tenon — never glued shortcuts — so the piece is made to be kept and passed down.
Assembly & Installation
Most pieces arrive securely packed and ready to use. Some larger items may require simple assembly; installation assistance may be available depending on the product and your location — speak with a consultant to confirm before ordering.
Care
Dust timber with a soft dry cloth and treat with wax balm twice yearly. Vacuum upholstery gently and treat marks promptly. Keep out of prolonged direct sun to preserve the finish.
Delivery & Shipping
Made-to-order pieces are crafted in 2–3 weeks and then dispatched by safe, insured delivery, securely packed for transit. Assembly assistance is available on selected pieces. International freight is quoted at checkout.
